Degas was born in Paris, France, the eldest of five children of Célestine Musson De Gas and Augustin De Gas, a banker. The family was moderately wealthy. At age eleven, Degas (as a young man he abandoned the more pretentious spelling of the family name) began his schooling with enrollment in the Lycée Louis-le-Grand, graduating in 1853 with a baccalauréat in literature.
Degas began to paint seriously early in his life. By eighteen he had turned a room in his home into an artist's studio, and had begun making copies in the Louvre, but his father expected him to go to law school. Degas duly registered at the Faculty of Law of the University of Paris in November 1853, but made little effort at his studies there.
In 1855, Degas met Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, whom he revered, and was advised by him to "draw lines, young man, many lines."
In April of that same year, Degas received admission to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he studied drawing with Louis Lamothe, under whose guidance he flourished, following the style of Ingres.
In July 1856, Degas traveled to Italy, where he would remain for the next three years. There he drew and painted copies after Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and other artists of the Renaissance, often selecting from an altarpiece an individual head which he treated as a portrait.
It was during this period that Degas studied and became accomplished in the techniques of high, academic, and classical art.
DIOREVER
The new Dior bag, a new lifestyle Diorever… reversible: a flap to reflect your unique style and personality.
Diorever… forever Dior: a crest-shaped clasp to make a bold and contemporary statement. Diorever… everyday: a tote that adapts to your mood and style each day.
How many Dior handbags can you collect? How many do you already own in your wardrobe? There is one more bag you should definitely add to your wish list for the coming season – the Dior Diorever Tote Bag.
This bag is absolutely to-die-for. I would name it the Diorama Tote Bag, but Dior rather gives it a distinctive name – it’s a totally different bag, though the crest-shaped clasp might look the same as the one your recognize on the Diorama Bag…but this is a tote bag.
Covered in durable leather (for now only in calfskin), completely handmade, you will love the experience. The bag comes with two top handles, the side of the flap is embellished with two (circular) buttons of which we believe is a snap-button to close the bag.

Collectors and connoisseurs who covet quality, timeless, and classic designs appreciate such subtle details.
The world of collectors and connoisseurs is one that thrives on the nuances that lie within the objects of their admiration. These discerning individuals possess an unparalleled eye for quality, and they find immense joy in the pursuit of items that stand the test of time, embodying both timeless elegance and classic design principles. The magic often lies in the minutiae—the subtle details that might go unnoticed by the untrained eye but shine like beacons to those who truly appreciate sophistication and craftsmanship.
Imagine a connoisseur of fine watches, whose collection includes pieces from revered brands such as Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. The value of these timepieces is not simply in their function of telling time but in the intricate art of horology. The delicate engravings on the watch face, the precision of the mechanical movements, and the history etched in each hand-polished component reflect a dedication to excellence that dates back centuries. The connoisseur’s delight comes from understanding and recognizing these subtleties, knowing that each element contributes to the watch’s legacy of quality and style.
Similarly, an art collector’s appreciation for classic designs is deeply rooted in their awareness of artistic techniques and historical contexts. Owning a painting by an Old Master, such as Rembrandt or Vermeer, is about more than the visual impact of the piece. It's about comprehending the brushstrokes, the layering of pigments, and the play of light and shadow that create a mesmerizing tableau. These subtle details are what make the artwork not just a visual feast but a narrative of the artist’s journey, the era’s cultural fabric, and the evolution of artistic expression.
Interior design aficionados also find their calling in classic and timeless aesthetics. Picture a room adorned with mid-century modern furniture—an Eames lounge chair, a Noguchi coffee table, or a Saarinen tulip chair. The choice of materials, the ergonomic design, and the harmony of form and function are subtle cues that speak volumes about the era’s dedication to minimalism and utility without compromising on style. Collectors who furnish their homes with such pieces do so with a profound appreciation for the enduring value held in these designs.
Moreover, classic car collectors seek vehicles like the Aston Martin DB5 or the Jaguar E-Type not just for their beauty but for their engineering marvels and cultural significance. The gleam of the chrome, the purr of the finely-tuned engine, and the individuality of hand-crafted elements are subtle details celebrated by car connoisseurs. These enthusiasts revel in the stories of innovation and pride that these machines represent.
In summary, it is the meticulous craftsmanship, inherent quality, and storytelling imbued in these classic designs that captivate collectors and connoisseurs. Their appreciation for subtle details transforms each item into a cherished treasure and a testament to human ingenuity and artistic mastery.
