Louis Vuitton were inspired by their very own Parisienne girls for SS17.
Home Town
As one of Paris’s original biggest fashion houses, Louis Vuitton have always nestled themselves deep in Parisienne fashion. The collection, shown at the Place Vendôme, was inspired by the intricacies and perculiarities of Parisian culture, particularly the contrast of the Right Bank and Left Bank, where the sartorial particularities and creative ideals clash; eccentricity and individuality is everything. Looking at Paris as the epicentre of fashion, where artistic ideals flow and meld together, it was no surprise that the collection was the embodiment of the Parisienne spirit.
Parisienne Sensibilities
The women that surround Louis Vuitton and their impeccable style were the direct inspiration for the SS17 collection. Long jersey dresses that floated and swum around the body contrasted with intricately tailored suits and dazzling rainbow python on a skirt and jacket. Balancing the tailored garments with printed t-shirts that emulated the 18th-century faun sculptures decorating the façade of the venue and cut-out checkered midi dresses paired with gold boots, the collection brought together classic Parisienne style elements and modernised them for the ultimate SS17 wardrobe.
Seeing Skin
Louis Vuitton played peek-a-boo with cut-outs and sheer fabrics for SS17. A sheer black dress with a gold sheen was layered over a shoulder pad and black leotard combo and a see-through dress with giant silver dots with an underskirt and spiky metal necklace were contrasted with belted storm grey trousers and a black sheer long-sleeve top patterned with sheer checks and black swathes of fabric. Louis Vuitton made sure that we’re all going to show a little skin for spring.
